Secrets of a Murderous Tree

A huge thank you to all my wonderful friends and followers for supporting the Napoleon’s Starship pre-launch campaign. We’ve exceeded our goal and are currently at 125 followers. If you haven’t followed the campaign yet, there’s still time to grab a seat on the starship before it soars into the stars. Click the link below:

The full campaign takes off on July 23rd!
Mark your calendar and and join me and the intrepid team at Wayward Raven Media on a journey into a galaxy far, far away. Help save an ancient extraterrestrial civilization from ruthless invaders, learn the mysteries of the Black Mountains, learn to speak in the arcane language of scents, and help me get my first traditionally published graphic novel into the hands of readers and art lovers across the galaxy.

We will be appearing on some exciting podcasts, sharing campaign updates, juicy behind-the-scenes details, and inspirations behind the world of Napoleon’s Starship. All podcasts will be US-based, but I’ll be beaming in from Egypt where I’m working on an archaeological dig, so listen close for the roar of sandstorms and the whine of camels in the background. Keep an eye on my website and social media for the latest announcements.

While the campaign runs, this blog will be all about Napoleon’s Starship, the inspirations behind the story and its characters, and the creative process that went into building its universe. Details are very important to me and I’ve spent years traveling the world and gathering the impressions, images and sometimes unlikely references that helped me build the world of planet Thror.

Like this magnificent monster tree, for example, spotted in the wild in the south of Egypt –

It seems to hold so much inner power and malevolence, those vicious spikes no doubt loaded with lethal venom, the folds of its bark like muscles shifting beneath thick, scaly skin, that I knew it belonged on planet Thror.

Thror’s trees are living, venomous predators that form a key part of the planet’s constantly morphing, shape-shifting fabric. With their poison-tipped spikes, tentacle-like branches and ferocious tempers, they are ever ready to guard the safety and honor of their home from any who threaten it.

Stay tuned for more secrets from Napoleon’s Starship!
